Romantically Apocalyptic Webcomic
by Vitaly S Alexius
Charles Snippy finds himself lost and alone at the end of the world. He makes a wish for a friend and meets Zee Captain, an eccentric lunatic luminary, who drags him on an adventure through the eldritch, deadly, questionable and limitless post-apocalyptic world of tomorrow, a place where Goodness makes the rules and everything has purpose and passion.
~A post-apocalyptic, dark comedy webcomic that I've been working on since 2005 by myself at first and then with friends from all around the world.

Honestly, this entire thing is a masterpiece, been reading for a while now, the details added to the art and colours just gives me an unexplainable feeling.
It helped me get crazy inspirations for drawings and much more!
I've read a lot of fictions but this one really seems to peak my interest the most, the characters are well created and so is the lore!
without a doubt would suggest it to my friends.
KEEP THE WORK UP! <3
Honestly, I don't remember when I stumbled across Romantically Apocalyptic (2011? Maybe?), but boy howdy am I glad I did.
The art and colours are very excellent braincandy for those that like the vibrant pop of colour against the sometimes bleak, apocalyptic backgrounds and the blending of photography, painting, and image generation is gorgeous.
The characters are a lovely group. Zee Captain is a delightfully mad being of Pure Chaos, and Snippy eternally tired. Pilot is frighteningly loyal and terribly silly... Engie is. Well. Engie. Bit nervous, that one.
The story is all sorts of chaos and fun, but looking past the wacky shenanigans, there's a deep world of lore to sink into. Who are these four randos trapped in the post apocalypse? What do you mean [REDACTED] was made [REDACTED] on purpose?
The journals add so much depth to the story as a whole, and they're very well written. Plus, the choice of tunes paired to some of them really makes the mood.
Romantically Apocalyptic is a feast for... most of the senses. If you start tasting pineapple on a semi-permanent basis, or you feel like your face has gone missing, things have gone awry. Please try again.
Over all, 10/10, would recommend. Set aside a day or three and go to town.
I've been reading this comic on the original website for so long I literally do not remember a time that I did not read it. The story has been executed brilliantly and yet kept enough mistery to keep me hanging on. The characters are funny and excentric and the world seems like a place that could be a literal future. Can't wait to see where the characters and story end up going.
As someone who was refused the privilege of technology for a long time I've read hundreds of books and chose to forget all but few, now when I choose to read I forget the names all of the characters, all of them blending together into a bland pale mush of repetitiveness. But these charcters cannot be forgotten, even [REDACTED] that freakey creep in love with our queen removed from existence cannot be blended away. The plot four dimensional criscrossing around but instead of getting wrapped up in confusion you get wrapped up in intrigue, of how a tiny detail lead to someone's whole existence being turned around, the story from the perspective of a can of fruit, you find yourself rereading over and over each time from a new angle with different understanding something nonsensical in the past unlocking backstory in the future, i'm no writer im the tiniest bit drunk and a bit autistic so I can't even begin to describe how much i love the art, ever since i've discovered this webnovel Zee Captein drinking from the holy chalice has been my wallpaper and will continue to be so until a superior depiction of them is made. 201 ---> word
Best damn webnovel I've ever read. it is filled with twists and turns in such well-written madness that I couldn't help but feel amazed. Folks, this has a lot of work and dedication put into it. I remember RA being a popular topic among my small friend group back in middle school, and how I eventually got into it myself. I'm honestly not exagerrating all the five star scores (did I use proper grammer...?).
Here's my character/lore idea for the RA series:
Meet Fitz: a 20 year old Corporal in a military organization. he is the best marksman in his unit; an excellent soldier, a superb tactician, and... a complete dork.
He is part of a international coalition (think something like NATO, and he'd be American) and was cryogenically frozen as part of a military contingency; that in the event of nuclear war or otherwise an apocalyptic event, select troops would survive and could deploy once the calamity had settled down. Many years after ANNET destroyed the world, well-hidden bunker complexes that had been long forgotten by humanity would reactivated by mistake, and contingents of troops and personnel would thaw out and find the world a ruined state. Zee Captain and his group would save Fitz following the death of the soldier's team, and begin to learn about who the soldier is and the story of the forgotten contingency that he is part of.
frankly it is great the humor, the story, the characters, and the sci fi stuff it is excellent i also enjoy the absurdly advanced sci fi technology that is being used in this comic vocal computer commands that can trigger orbital strikes and summon school busses sentient ai in cake candles neural interfaces it is all great i started reading this comic when i found it on youtube watched a few dubs it was nice but it missed the greater story remember to read everything you will miss a lot if you just read a little and focus on the pictures anyway 10/10 would recommend
This is one of the most interesting stories I have ever read. It starts out relatively tame, but spirals out into a very complex story that interconnects with all of the author's other works.
I first read RA on its old site a couple months ago, and was taken aback by the beautiful art and photography, as well as the style of humor and story that seems to make sense in-world, but doesn’t confine itself to what we think is normal. It brought something new to the table in its seemingly random plotline and the art was something I've never seen before with its combination of photography and digital painting. It was completely different from anything else in the best sort of way.
Then, about a week ago, I was reminded of RA and checked the site and the discord to find that there was a rewrite! This reignited my interest in RA and I was so surprised at all the great new art and writing. I love that the insanity continues in this modern update. The new writing sheds light on some of the more confusing aspects of the story and the new AI art is beautiful and fits with the story very nicely. The fact that I could see all of Vitaly’s stories in one place motivated me to read them all. I was shocked at how all these fictions connect into this really interesting universe.
The characters in each have their own personalities that work so well together, and it's really fun to see the interactions between Snippy and the rest of the cast. I love watching the story unfold and bearing witness to the eldritch horrors of this world, served with a side of unique and funny humor. Even though it can get pretty weird and confusing at times, I never wanted to stop reading, it actually seemed to make me want to read more to uncover the secrets of this world.
Overall, a very funny and addicting story. Reading this comic has been one of the best choices I have ever made, and opened my eyes to seeing what was possible in art and writing. I'm surprised this isn’t more popular. One of my favorite stories.
Romantically Apocalyptic is outstanding. I don't read much and my English isn't very good, but despite all of that this book blew me away. It can be described with 3 A's - Amazing story, Awesome art and Adorable characters.
The best things are probably plot twists. They just happen randomly and explain everything that didn't make sense. It is even better when you read other books from this author and you don't understand something but then at some point they start connecting to each other and you're like: "Aah. Now I understand everything".
I'd write about minuses of RA but there are simply none. 100 Grumpy Snippies/100 Zee Captains.
I came across this webcomic a long time ago, I'm a completely different person now, but one thing I can say for sure is that no matter what age this comic will always be relevant.
This is the most unique comic book I've ever seen. The artwork, the characters, the plot, everything takes me back to my crazy childhood, when I was always making stuff up.
The whole idea of a crazy and weird post-apocalypse reminds me of the Adventure Time series, weird as that may be. And Snippy is the last man, Finn the human of this Adventure Time, as you like. Who the other characters are - try to guess for yourself. It's just amazing!
So, as far as the drawings go? It's very realistic and beautiful, and the characters are models from real life, which is already very unusual. Overall I will say this, you are not ready for the style of this comic in a good way.
By the way, I was chatting on messenger with the author of this comic, a very interesting person.
I won't beat around the bush for long, if you appreciate digital art, you'll love this comic. Start exploring the world of Capitania!
Awesome epic. So many cool ideas! So many plot twists and creative characters and designs! Truly unique and one of a kind! It's been going on for a very long time and I used to read it back in high school. The art style and sound design is superb! Definitely give it a read, you won't be disappointed.
